Fetal Intervention Program Director
Children’s Specialty Group, Children’s Wisconsin, & the Medical College of Wisconsin

Children’s Specialty Group, in collaboration with Children’s Wisconsin and the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader to serve as the inaugural, full-time Fetal Intervention Program Director and Garcia Endowed Chair for Research.

MCW is one of the nation’s premier freestanding and private academic health sciences institutions and widely recognized for advancing academics, training, education, and research. MCW is a major national research center ranking in the top third of U.S. medical schools in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding and is Wisconsin’s largest private research institution.

The Fetal Concerns Center within Children’s Wisconsin is a resource unlike any other in the state. We care for pregnant women with a fetal diagnosis from initial identification of the concern through delivery with comprehensive, high-quality care, specialized testing and screening, selective invasive fetal therapy, genetic counseling and much more.  We are supported by fetal care coordinators with RN backgrounds to manage care plans and coordinate care for each individual patient.  We provide access to nationally recognized pediatric specialists at CW to support fetal care and long-term management.  Obstetric care is combined with complex fetal care under one roof.

The Froedtert Birth Center (FBC) is a Society of Obstetrical Anesthesia and Perinatology Center of Excellence and is recognized as High Performing in Maternity Services by US News and World Report. With 3,400 deliveries per year, FBC is a Level IV obstetrical unit and a high-risk pregnancy referral site located within the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, next to the Level IV NICU, 70 private bed unit.  This is the only birth center in the state located within a children’s hospital.

Our world-class physicians and staff, leading-edge technology and in-depth research combined with our compassionate, caring approach make us the best choice to care for high-risk moms in the state of Wisconsin.  Our teams’ practice at Children's Wisconsin, a free-standing 298-bed children's hospital located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Children's Wisconsin ranks as one of the top children's hospitals in the United States by US News. Our large faculty, with a wide breadth and depth of clinical and research expertise, facilitate clinical learning from different styles and a variety of research pursuits.

The Fetal Intervention Program Director will be responsible for developing and guiding the clinical, educational, community and research missions of this comprehensive academic fetal intervention program.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Steer the program through programmatic excellence in alignment with the clinical, research, education, and community engagement missions of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin.
  • Work collaboratively in a matrixed, diverse, complex environment.
  • Nurture a culture of inclusion, accountability and professionalism across the enterprise while responsibly administering the division’s finances.
  • Successfully recruit and retain diverse, talented faculty, and foster their career development.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for the mission and vision of MCW’s Divisions of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, OB/GYN, and Departments Surgery and Pediatrics, and will have a strong track record of scholarship and leadership appropriate for faculty appointment.  Relevant clinical experience, success in scholarly work, and leadership in fetal intervention are required.
