MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center has an excellent full time opportunity for a Board Certified Psychiatry Residency Program Director to oversee the Psychiatry Residency Clinic located in Mason City, Iowa.
The Psychiatry Residency Program Director is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of the psychiatry resident training program and is accountable for the clinical operations of the Psychiatry Residency Clinic. The Program Director executes overall planning and direction of activities associated with the Psychiatry Residency in order to meet the ACGME, JCAHO and other regulatory agency requirements for resident physicians and faculty. The Program Director provides guidance and supervision to residents as well as residency assignments and develops training objectives and opportunities aimed to facilitate residents' professional and clinical growth and provide quality patient care.
The Director of the residency program must have demonstrated ability as a teacher, clinician, and leader. The Director must be capable of managing the program in an effective manner and be actively involved in the care of patients including the development of their own practice. The Program Director must have or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Iowa prior to starting in this role. The Program Director must be currently certified by the American Board of Family Medicine or have suitable equivalent qualifications as determined by the Family Medicine Review Committee of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.
The selected candidate must have the following qualifications: a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) or AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited residency in psychiatry; must have certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry; have a minimum of 3 years of experience of participating residency education, supervision, mentoring and administration is required; and prior experience as program director or associate training director is preferred but not required.
